About Us

Fathima Institute of Medical Sciences (FIMS) is a medical education and healthcare institution located on Kadapa–Pulivendula Road, Ramarajupalli, Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. The institution is promoted by the Mohammadiya Educational Society, established in 1999, and is part of the AQJ Group of Institutions. Established in 2007, FIMS aims to advance medical education and provide healthcare services to the people of Kadapa and surrounding regions. FIMS is committed to nurturing knowledgeable, skilled and compassionate medical professionals. Its educational approach emphasizes academic excellence, scientific thinking, practical clinical experience and professional ethics. The institution aims to create an environment where students can develop the medical knowledge, clinical competence and sense of responsibility required to serve patients and communities effectively.

The institute offers the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme, which combines theoretical instruction with practical learning and supervised hospital-based clinical training. The curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation in pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical medical sciences. The institution also offers postgraduate MD/MS programmes across multiple medical specialties, supporting advanced medical education and professional development. The campus features academic infrastructure designed to support medical education and research. Facilities include lecture halls equipped with audio-visual aids, laboratories, seminar rooms, an auditorium, library resources and a central research laboratory. These facilities help students strengthen their understanding of medical science, participate in academic activities and develop essential practical skills.

An important component of FIMS is its associated teaching hospital, which provides healthcare services to patients from Kadapa and neighbouring areas. The institution reports a 620-bed hospital with services across more than 21 medical and surgical specialties. Facilities include emergency and casualty services, diagnostic investigations, imaging services and departments covering general medicine, general surgery, paediatrics, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, pulmonology, nephrology and other specialties.

Clinical training is an essential part of the institution’s educational philosophy. Through hospital-based learning, students gain opportunities to observe patient care, understand diagnostic procedures and develop skills in clinical assessment, treatment planning and communication. This practical experience supports the development of confident, responsible and patient-focused healthcare professionals. FIMS also emphasizes community service and healthcare awareness. Its educational and clinical activities aim to encourage students to understand the health needs of local communities and contribute to improving access to medical care. Participation in medical camps and outreach activities helps promote social responsibility, empathy and a service-oriented approach to healthcare.
