Admission Eligibility and Procedure
Eligibility:
Candidates must be at least 17 years of age by December 31st of the year of enrollment. They must have completed their Higher Secondary education (10+2) in the Science stream, with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (or Biotechnology) as subjects. A minimum of 50% marks is required (40% for SC/ST and 45% for the OBC category).
Admission Procedure:
For students aspiring to pursue medical studies, it is mandatory to appear for the 'National Eligibility cum Entrance Test' (NEET) after completing class 12. This examination is conducted by the 'National Testing Agency' (NTA). Admission to all government, central, private, and deemed colleges is based on NEET scores. Seats in medical institutions, colleges, and universities are allocated through a counseling process, which depends on factors such as eligibility scores/ranks, college preferences, and the availability of seats. The counseling process takes place in several stages, including Round 1, Round 2, a mop-up round, and a stray vacancy round. Subsequent rounds are organized based on seat availability; if seats remain vacant after the conclusion of a round, an additional round is conducted.
